Apple will delay the launch of three new artificial intelligence features due to the requirements of the European Union’s new tech regulations, which mandate compatibility with rival products and services, the company announced on Friday.

Earlier this month, Apple highlighted its AI advancements with a range of new features and software updates for its iPhone and other devices, aiming to boost declining sales.

Apple stated that its AI feature, Apple Intelligence, which generates text, images, and other content on command, would be available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with the M1 chip and newer versions. Additionally, iPhone Mirroring on macOS Sequoia allows users to view and interact with their phone’s screen on Mac computers.

The company announced on Friday that due to regulatory uncertainties stemming from the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), three features—Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing enhancements, and Apple Intelligence—will not be available to EU users this year.

Apple expressed concerns that the DMA’s interoperability requirements might compromise the integrity of its products, potentially affecting user privacy and data security. “We are committed to collaborating with the European Commission to find a solution that would allow us to deliver these features to our EU customers without compromising their safety,” Apple stated in an email.
