IND vs AUS, T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8: India maintained their unbeaten streak and secured a spot in the semifinals against England. Meanwhile, Australia’s chances of reaching the semis now hinge on Bangladesh. Now it’s a big opportunity for Afghanistan to qualify for semi final for the first time.
Rohit Sharma led from the front with a blistering 92 off just 41 balls, propelling India to a formidable total of 205 for five. Despite the early dismissal of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma attacked Mitchell Starc aggressively, smashing him for 29 runs in an over and setting the momentum for India at the Darren Sammy Stadium.
After Rohit’s departure, Suryakumar Yadav (31 off 16 balls) and Shivam Dube (28 off 22) maintained the momentum with their aggressive batting. Hardik Pandya (27 off 17) then finished the innings strongly for India.
Australia began their chase with an early setback, losing Warner in the first over. However, Head and Marsh then took charge. Marsh, despite looking out of sorts and surviving two chances, contributed crucially. Head continued his successful history against India in ICC events, striking some powerful shots that put India’s bowling under pressure. Marsh’s dismissal to a remarkable catch by Axar Patel changed the course again, although Maxwell briefly unsettled India before his departure. Once Maxwell was dismissed, Australia’s innings quickly collapsed.
