Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja announced his retirement from T20 internationals after leading India to victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa on Saturday

The veteran cricketer joined his esteemed teammates Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in retiring from the T20 format, just a day after their World Cup triumph.

Jadeja, renowned as one of the world’s top fielders, confirmed he will continue playing in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Test matches.

“With immense gratitude, I say goodbye to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats,” the 35-year-old shared on Instagram, alongside a photo of him holding the trophy.

“Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true and the peak of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai Hind,” he added.

Jadeja debuted in T20Is against Sri Lanka in 2009 and has since played 74 matches, scoring 515 runs and taking 54 wickets.

In the T20 World Cup final in Barbados on Saturday, India defeated South Africa by seven runs to secure their second title in the tournament’s history.

Following the victory, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the format.

Jadeja, who has been a stalwart of Indian cricket for over a decade and a half, was not in his best form during the recently concluded World Cup.
